PUBLICON 2011
The Federation has recently FICCI organized, in collaboration with our Federation a two day program on the publishing industry ‘PubliCon 2011: The Business of Publishing' on 28-29 September 2011 at FICCI, New Delhi. Shri Kailash Balani, President, FPBAI participated in the above programme. Some of the facts that were covered in the above programme are mentioned below:
• The industry is growing at a robust rate of 30 percent.
• India ranks third after USA and UK in English language publications.
• Market size is estimated at Rs.10,000 crores.
• Only 7 percent of the sales in the industry comes from the organized sector.
• India exports to over 150 countries.
• India’ share in global exports of printed and published products is 6.46 per cent.
• The exports of books and publications are estimated at Rs.944.44 crores.
Mr. Kailash Balani was invited to panel discussion on the ‘National Book Promotion Policy' which is likely to be approved and released by the Ministry of Human Resource Development for the benefit of authors, publishers, booksellers, public libraries and others. We have reproduced the draft of the Policy in this Newsletter for the benefit of our members.
