To
All Members of the Federation
Dear Friends,
At the outset, I must express my grateful thanks to all our esteemed members for the confidence reposed and the support extended for unanimously re-electing me and the other office bearers for another term. I take this oppotunity to assure them that we would do our very best to discharge the heavy responsibility cast on us.
Soon after we took over, the Excutive Committee was reconstituted, as also Sub-Committees formed and their Chairman appointed. Since the last AGM was held (middle of November 2008) two meetings of the reconstituted Executive Committee have already been held-one at New Delhi (16 December, 08) and the other at Jaipur (30th January, 09). It may be mentioned that organization of a few Executive committee meetings outside Delhi is in keeping with our known policy to hold such meetings in different regions of the country so as to seek personal involvement of our local members as also of the affiliated regional associations there. At both the meetings we have had useful deliberations regarding some current issues etc. facing us, and the programme of the Federation for the coming year.
A few days after our last AGM was held, our Federation, jointly with the Bangalore Booksellers & Publishers Association, organized, on 22 November 2008 (during Bangalore Book Festival 2008). A Seminar on Book Publishing and Marketing in India in Bangalore. This provided a singular opportunity to the participants to share rich experiences of several senior members of the Book Industry who were speakers at the Seminar. It is proposed to organize more such seminars on different aspects of our industry in near future.
I am Happy to place on record that copies of new editions of FPBAI Directory of Members and a handy e-mail Directory of our members-both quality products-brought out by us recently have been distributed to all our Members, officials in the Ministery of HRD, Govt. of India, NBT, Vice Chancellors and librarians of various universities and other Institutes etc.
The revival of the National Book Promotion Council recently by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India, will undoubtedly facilitate exchange of views on all major aspects of book promotion and help in better understanding of the problems of the trade and suggest suitable measures for its further growth in the coming years. We look forward to paticipating in the meetings of the Council as and when convened.
Based on a Survey conducted by our Federation and DSBPA recently regrading space requirements of our publishers members in the Publisher's Mall in the proposed Delhi Heritage Center, Daryaganj, as also Warehouse in Integrated Freight Complexes (IFCs) a communication giving our consolidated requirement of space in this behalf, has been submitted to DDA as required by them, as also to Chief Minister, Delhi and MCD. Any developments would be brought to the notice of our members.
With best wishes
Yours Sincerely

S.C. SETHI
President
